$5,000 biweekly paycheck savings challenge
One amount per payday, 26 paydays, $5,000 by the end of the year.

Most savings challenges are weekly, but most people are paid every two weeks. This one matches your paycheck: 26 rows, one per payday, starting at $100 and building to $285. Save the amount on each row and you finish the year with $5,000.
The amounts start small and grow, so the habit is in place before the bigger paydays arrive. The running total column shows exactly where you should be at any point.
How it works
The challenge is built around the 26 paychecks most people get in a year when they are paid every two weeks. Each payday has its own amount, starting at $100 and growing to $285. The amounts rise slowly, so the habit is in place before the bigger paydays.
| After payday | That payday | Saved so far |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $100 | $100 |
| 6 | $135 | $705 |
| 13 | $190 | $1,870 |
| 19 | $235 | $3,155 |
| 26 | $285 | $5,000 |
How to use it
- Write the date of each payday in the first column.
- On payday, move that row’s amount to savings and tick it off.
- Check the running total column to see how far you have come.

Ways to use it
- Paid weekly? Do half of each row every week.
- Paid monthly? Combine two rows each month.
- Use a separate savings account so the money is out of sight on payday.
Tips
- Set up a transfer that runs the day your paycheck lands.
- If one payday is short, swap rows and save a smaller amount now and a larger one later.
Questions
How much is $5,000 over 26 paychecks?
About $192 per paycheck on average. This sheet starts lower ($100) and ends higher ($285), so the early paydays are easier.
Can I save $5,000 in a year on a biweekly paycheck?
Many people can by saving a set amount each payday. This sheet shows the exact amount for each of the 26 paydays and a running total, so you always know whether you are on track.
What if one payday is short?
Swap rows: do a smaller row now and the larger one on a better payday. The total stays the same.
